Researchers from Microsoft Research laboratories and Washington University researchers informed about the development of new technology displays - manufactured in the screens would have a four times better than today’s LCD backlight level move and could display a perfect black.

As you know, liquid crystals, which LCD matrix consists, do not produce their own light - fluorescent lamp is responsible for that, light passes through the crystals and as a result of the activities of relevant color filters it is transmitted. The overall efficiency of transmission of light in the LCD display does not exceed 10%, which means that only 1 / 10 of light generated by the lamp is not blocked by the polarizer and color filters. The light is not a completely blocked off by the pixels, and therefore a major defect in the LCD screens is a weak contrast and difficulty in using in highly-lit environment.

A team of researchers from Microsoft’s laboratories and the University of Washington in the article published on the website Nature.com - based on the above statement - offers its own solution for the production of displays. Technology ‘telescopic pixels’, because so it is called, can allow even 36% of light.

In this technology, each pixel has two micromirrors, a “dynamic”, adapting to the electrostatic forces (basic mirror), and second - static (auxiliary). Depending on the voltage applied, the basic mirror can stop light or focus it on the mirror of static, which is tantamount to put light by the pixel. Adoption of this technology has contributed to substantial improvements in image quality (including deep black, more contrast image). The technology has to offer fast pixel response time (less than 1.5 ms), and the ability to produce high-resolution screens with “relatively cheap” materials, and to its implementation do not need to modify existing production lines matrix LCD displays.

It is not known when it can be released on the market.

Description: Sony DCR-SR210E

Cameras with hard disks are the most practical solution for camcorder’s fans, because they do not have to worry about miniDV cassettes or DVDs, which cost money. The hard disk provides recording space and requires no extra cost.

Sony DCR - SR210E is an advanced camera with a hard drive. First of all, it comes with a ClearVid CMOS chip (2.3-megapixels), which provides a greater sensitivity, extended dynamic range and less blur. The display has a better contrast and it has a wider range of colors.

New processor ensures better quality films and photos.

The 60 GB drive allows you to record films up to 41 hours.
The lens comes from the most advanced optical Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T. The range of focal length in the camcorder mode: 40-600 mm (16:9), 49-735 mm (4:3), in the camera mode: 40.4-404 mm (16:9), 37-555 mm (4:3).

Handycam Station allows for copying recordings to the computer, editing or viewing films and photos on a TV. Thanks to Sony Super NightShot Plus you can record films in total darkness.

The manufacturer has decided to introduce a new series of batteries, which are also used in Sony SR210E. Construction of new models of batteries (NP-FH100, NP-FH70 and NP-FH50, NP-FH30) is based on the hybrid cells and ActiFORCE. Technology. These solutions increase the capacity of batteries, reduce the charging time, and improve the accuracy of battery indicator.

Design

The iPod Touch design shows the skillful thought of committed designers, hardware engineers, and usability experts. It measures 4.3 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.31 inch, with an all-metal-and-glass design. The iPod Touch uses a scratch-resistant glass.

There are only two physical buttons on the Touch:

a button on the face of the player used for calling up the main menu;

a screen deactivation button on the top-left edge of the case.

The Touch is controlled largely by an icon-based touch-screen navigation menu similar to that in the iPhone.
The 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPod Touch runs flush with the case and accepts any standard mini-jack headphone connection. Since there are no dedicated volume control buttons or controls for playing, pausing, and skipping through tracks, the Touch gives users the ability to bring up an onscreen sliders by double-clicking the main menu button.

Samsung has already developed 128GD SDD disc and is planning to put them on the market later his Lear which will undoubtedly decrease the prices of the new technology.
Many companies are competing to produce as efficient and as cheap discs of the future as possible but it seems that Samsung is pioneering. By the end of the year, as the company states, it will release 256 GB SDD discs. It will not only influence the prices, but also motivate the competitors and as usual in such case the consumers will benefit. The new technology will be used in portable devices such as iPods, laptops and so on. The prices of SDD discs are expected to fall 30%-40% annually which means that in a year or two they will be affordable to a common consumer.
